Severe weather photographer David Mayhew joins storm chasers across tornado alley each year in search of the perfect storm to capture his unique world class fine art images. His pictures capture a vast array of weather phenomena including tornadoes, funnel clouds, supercell thunderstorms and lightning strikes. His engaging portfolio specializes in Skyscapes: an artistic interpretation of severe weather, designed to evoke an emotional response from both the drama and serenity of the sky.
Based in Colorado he is on the edge of Tornado Alley and at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. His Colorado weather images incorporate sunsets and sunrises that can illuminate even the most simple cumulus cloud. David Mayhew also frequently travels to National Parks such as Death Valley National Park, Arches National Park, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon and more.
Having lived in Chicago David’s portfolio includes images of the Sears Tower, Hancock Tower, Trump Tower and astounding Chicago Skyline images. His photographs still focus on the sky, often taking long exposure pictures as thunder and lightning crack over the city skyline. David’s Photographs are on display at several different art galleries throughout the United States and soon internationally too.
